Nine companies received awards totaling $107,931 from the Maine Technology Institute, which leveraged $591,128 in matching funds.
The publicly financed, nonprofit tech organization announced the awards Thursday. Among the recipients of tech start grants were:
• Anchorpak of Portland, which received $4,563 and provided an equal match.
• Biome Management Systems of Harpswell, which received $3,500 and provided an equal match.
• CryptoMedix of Harpswell, which received $5,000 and provided a match of $10,400.
• InSphero Inc. of Brunswick, which received $5,000 and provided a match of $6,335.
• Penobscot East Resource Center in Stonington, which received $5,000 and provided a match of $5,807.
• Revolution Research Inc. of Orono, which received $5,000 and provided an equal match.
In addition to the tech start grants, MTI also awarded two business accelerator grants. Blue Ox Malthouse of Lisbon Falls received $24,998 and provided a match of $49,535, while Eldertide of Dresden received $49,980 and provided a match of $499,991.
Additionally, a Kickstarter grant of $4,890 was awarded to FoodHEALTH of South Portland, and triggered a $6,000 match.
The deadline for the next round of MTI grant applications is May 3.
