Warming temperatures, low humidity, sunshine and brisk winds have made for dangerous fire weather throughout the state, the Maine Forest Rangers are warning residents.

On Sunday alone, local fire departments and rangers fought brush and grass fires in several communities, including Bangor, Dyer Brook, Exeter, Greenville, Washburn, East Millinocket, Leeds, Hampden and Bridgton.

Nearly all of the state, except for the northernmost regions, has red-flag warnings in effect for Monday, meaning the risk of fire remains high.
