NEW YORK — Boston’s Patrice Bergeron, Anaheim’s Ryan Kesler and Los Angeles’ Anze Kopitar are the finalists for the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the NHL’s top defensive forward.

Members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association submitted ballots at the end of the regular season, with the top three designated finalists Thursday. The winner will be announced June 22.

Bergeron won the award in 2012, 2014 and 2015 and was second in 2013. He had a plus-12 rating for the Bruins this year, and won 57 percent of his draws with a league-leading 1,130 faceoff wins.

WILD: General Manager Chuck Fletcher says interim coach John Torchetti is “definitely a very serious candidate” to be the team’s permanent head coach.

Torchetti took over for the fired Mike Yeo in February, inheriting a team that had gone 1-11-2 in its previous 14 games. The Wild finished 17-15-1 under Torchetti, including the playoffs.

CAPITALS 4, PENGUINS 3: T.J. Oshie completed a hat trick in overtime to give Washington a victory over visiting Pittsburgh in a classic start to the highly anticipated second-round playoff series between Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby.

Oshie’s wraparound goal 9:33 into overtime of Game 1 stood up after video review once it was definitively shown that the puck went over the goal line.

Vezina Trophy finalist Braden Holtby made 42 saves, and Andre Burakovsky also scored for the Capitals.

Pittsburgh’s Matt Murray stopped 43 shots.

Ben Lovejoy, Evgeni Malkin and Nick Bonino scored for the Penguins, who will try to even the series Saturday night in Game 2.

Ovechkin assisted on Oshie’s second goal, while Crosby was on the ice for three goals against.

This is the first playoff meeting between the 2004 and 2005 No. 1 picks since 2009.
