Bill Nemitz wrote a thought-provoking column Thursday about the choice of the Maine Legislature to say “yea” or “nay” on the use of naloxone to save lives of addicts.

Gov. LePage’s veto of the bill, L.D. 1547, would prevent expanded access to naloxone. To save lives, I hope state legislators give a green light Friday to L.D. 1547 and override the governor’s veto of the bill.

Addiction is a disease. This is a public health issue. Those who are not sure of the issue should read Nemitz’s column on Page B1 of the April 28 Press Herald, “Naloxone vote is literally life-or-death.” I would hit the green button and vote for life and the use of naloxone.
