Firefighters from six towns were called to a blaze that destroyed a mobile home on Bing Moore Road in Bowdoin early Monday.
The structure was being renovated and no one was home at the time.
The single-wide mobile home with attached garage was already burning throughout and was “just a shell” when firefighters arrived after 3:35 a.m., said Tom Garrepy, chief of Bowdoin Fire & Rescue.
Garrepy said crews went into a “defensive” posture and worked to knock the fire down and keep it out. He said crews from Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Topsham, Lisbon, Sabattus and Richmond were called to the fire. Crews were at the scene for more than four hours.
Garrepy said the fire’s cause would be determined after an inspection by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
