BARLETT, N.H. — New Hampshire officials say a lost hiker who was stranded overnight on Mount Madison has been found.

Officials with the Fish and Game Department say 31-year-old New York City resident Yizong Li left his Hudson Valley Hikers group on Sunday afternoon and forged ahead on his own up the Watson Path. He reached the summit late in the day and tried to find the quickest way down because he had no gear, cellphone or light source.

But he was forced to stop hiking when darkness hit, and he stayed put overnight. His fellow hikers searched for him throughout the night.

Rescuers located Li on Monday morning.

Officials say he was tired and thirsty but did not require medical attention.
