AUGUSTA— The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is inviting fishermen to get out on the water for free on Saturday and Sunday.
Normal rules and bag and possession limits apply. The free fishing weekend is open to anyone, including those who lack a license.
The only people barred from fishing are those who have had their license suspended or revoked.
Maine has almost 6,000 lakes and ponds and more than 30,000 miles of rivers and streams. The inland fisheries department stocks more than a million fish every year.
