Voters in Freeport, Durham and Pownal voted Tuesday to pass the proposed Regional School Unit 5 budget.

Final results provided Wednesday morning show that 74 percent of voters supported the  $31 million budget and 26 percent opposed it.

The 2016-17 budget is about $1.5 million more than this year. An increased debt service payment of just under $1 million, taken on to fund a $14.6 million Freeport High School renovation, is driving the budget increase.
