A Greenville woman who had been missing since early Monday morning was found alive Tuesday in woods nearly two miles from where she was last seen, the Maine Warden Service said in a news release.

Clarice Jardine, 76, was found at 5 p.m. by a dog team member from the Maine Association of Search and Rescue, the warden service said. Initial reports indicated that she was conscious and talking, and medical personnel were to evaluate her condition.

Jardine was last seen at her home at 4:45 a.m. Monday, when she left to take a walk with her dog. When she did not return, her family called Greenville police. The warden service said Jardine has memory issues and has not driven in many years.

The warden service used search dog teams throughout Monday night until early Tuesday morning. On Tuesday, it was assisted by teams from the Maine Association of Search and Rescue, the Greenville police and fire departments and volunteers from the area.
