BOWIE, Md. — Jeff Kemp hit two homers and drove in three runs for the Bowie Baysox as they scored six runs in the first three innings and cruised to a 7-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday night at Prince George’s Stadium.

Portland (22-42) cut the deficit to 6-2 in the top of the fifth on a leadoff homer by Cody Decker and an RBI single from Tzu-Wei Lin that scored Wendell Rijo, who had doubled.

Rijo and Aneury Tavarez finished with two hits apiece for the Sea Dogs, who had eight hits in the game.

Bowie starter Brandon Barker (3-0) scattered seven hits while striking out four and walking one over 72/3 innings to earn the win for the Baysox (28-37).

David Richardson relieved Barker with runners on first and second with two outs in the top of the eighth inning and struck out Andrew Benintendi looking to get out of the jam.

Kevin McAvoy (3-3) started for the Sea Dogs and gave up six runs on eight hits in 22/3 innings.

Taylor Grover scattered three hits over 31/3 scoreless innings of relief for Portland.
