A backup on the Casco Bay Bridge caused heavy traffic delays in South Portland Wednesday morning.
The cause of the delays was malfunctioning gates.
Vehicles were unable to travel across the span from South Portland to Portland at around 7:00 and again at 9:00 a.m., causing traffic backups in the Mill Creek area.
Traffic from Portland into South Portland was not affected.
