GRADUATION/PROMOTIONS

Marine Corps 2nd Lt. John H. Lapoint IV graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., on May 27 and was commissioned to his present rank following four years of intensive academic, physical and professional training. He received a bachelor of science degree, with a major in economics.

Second Lt. Lapoint has been assigned to the Basic School at Quantico, Va., where he will continue training.

He is the son of John and JoAnn Lapoint of Kennebunk and the grandson of Jana Lapoint of Falmouth.

Air Force Airman Spencer W. Deissler graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Deissler is the son of Xaver Deissler and Laura Fish of Lebanon. He is a 2015 graduate of Maine Connections Academy, Portland.

REUNIONS/MEETINGS

The Sixth Annual Conference of the Maine Military & Community Network will be held July 21 at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta. The event will feature various key- note speakers, educational and networking opportunities for veterans from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a social hour and evening performance by comedian Michael Garvey from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Klahr Center on the UMA Augusta campus.
