A few of the Independence Day events slated for Monday:
FREEPORT – A road race and fun run at 7:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Monday; a parade on Main Street starting at 10 a.m.; and a free concert by David Mallett and The Mallett Brothers Band at 7:30 p.m. at L.L. Bean Discovery Park on Morse Street. Fireworks start about 9 p.m.
KENNEBUNK – Fireworks at dusk Monday at Kennebunk Beach, Beach Avenue. Rain date is Tuesday.
PORTLAND – Patriotic pops concert at 7:40 p.m. Monday by the Portland Symphony Orchestra at Eastern Promenade Park, followed by fireworks over Casco Bay from Portland’s East End Promenade at 9:20 p.m. Rain date is Tuesday.
SOUTH PORTLAND – Third annual Family Fourth at Bug Light Park, featuring activities, food vendors and a concert by The Delta Knights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, followed by fireworks at about 9:15 p.m. Rain date is Tuesday.
