A motorcyclist suffered injuries described as non-life threatening when he was hit by a car on State Road in Bath on Saturday.

Bath police said Scott R. Bernier of Bath was headed north on the road shortly after 4 p.m. when he was hit by a car, driven by Barbara A. Johansen, also of Bath, who was turning left onto State Road from Western Avenue.

Police said Bernier had been following another car, which turned right onto Western Avenue at the same time Johansen was turning onto State Road. The vehicle in front of Bernier obstructed the view of both Bernier and Johansen, police said.

Bernier was taken to Maine Medical Center and Johansen was not injured, police said.

Police said speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash and no charges were filed.

Both Johansen’s car and Bernier’s motorcycle had to be towed from the scene.
