Westbrook will not issue any fireworks permits Monday because of high wildfire danger.

In its daily report, the Maine Forest Service classified the fire danger across the state as high, meaning that all fine dead fuels ignite readily and fires start and spread easily.

Westbrook does not issue burn permits or fireworks permits on days when the fire danger is anything but low or moderate, according emergency dispatchers. As a result, the several dozen people who usually call to get same-day permits for Fourth of July fireworks will be turned away, dispatchers said.
