SANFORD — John Cresto tripled in Todd Czinege with the tie-breaking run in the seventh inning Friday night and the Sanford Mainers went on to an 8-5 victory against the Mystic Schooners in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game at Goodall Park.

The Schooners (14-11) made it 5-5 in the top of the seventh on Chase Lunceford’s three-run homer.

Sanford (12-12) added two in the eighth as Nelson Mompierre and Michael Landestoy came home on Christopher Gaetano’s triple.

The Mainers, behind 1-0 after the first half-inning, scored single runs in the first two innings, then widened the lead to 4-1 on Shaine Hughes’ two-run homer in the third.

EMPIRE LEAGUE

SURGE 15, EXPLORERS 5: Luc Pomales had three hits, four RBI and two runs scored as the Surge (18-12) downed Sullivan (14-16) at Old Orchard Beach.

Old Orchard, which totaled 17 hits, scored 10 times in the second inning to open a 10-1 lead. Each player in the Surge lineup scored at least once in the inning, which included RBI doubles by Brandon Cooksey, Jacob Fabry and Pomales.

Cooksey finished with three hits, three RBI and a run. Joshua Martinez added three hits, two RBI and two runs.

Fabry had only one hit but drove home three runs and scored twice.

TWILIGHT LEAGUE

EDGE 2, AERO 2: Bailey Train’s two-run homer in the fifth inning tied the score for Edge (3-7-1) against Aero (5-6-1) in a game limited by darkness to seven innings at South Portland.

Seth Dobieski, who led off the inning with a walk, scored ahead of Train.

Aero took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Nick Bowie tripled and scored on Tyler Hutchinson’s single. Hutchinson then came home on Connor McDowell’s double.

ON TARGET 4, PATRIOT INSURANCE 3: Sam Warren raced home on a passed ball in the seventh inning as On Target (10-2) rallied for two runs in its final at-bat to edge Patriot (4-7) at Standish.

Tim Ross started the winning rally with a two-out walk. Warren and Kyle Heather singled to load the bases before Tyler Buckley singled home Ross with the tying run.

Jamie Collins, who had already homered, was at the plate when Warren scored the game-ending run.

Tanner Laberge had a home run for Patriot.

JUNIOR LEGION

CUMBERLAND 7, ARARAT 4: Jacob Whiting drove home three runs, and Wade Sansone and Nathan Cyr scored twice each to give Cumberland a 7-2 lead three innings into its victory at home.

Whiting finished with three hits and Sansone had two.
