ARKON, Ohio — Rhys Hoskins of the Reading Fightin Phils lined a three-run homer to left field in the first inning and the East All-Stars, who totaled 20 hits, rolled by the West All-Stars 10-2 in the Eastern League All-Star game Wednesday night at Canal Park.

The East added a pair of runs in fourth on a double by Matt Oberste of the Binghamton Mets, driving in Dustin Fowler of the Trenton Thunder and Jesmuel Valentin of Reading.

Oberste, a third baseman, was named the game’s most valuable player after going 4 for 5 and driving in two runs.

The West answered with a solo home run in the fourth by Garabez Rosa of the Bowie Baysox.

The East countered with a pair of runs in the fifth.

Hoskins entered the game as the Eastern League’s home run leader with a total of 25.

The Portland Sea Dogs had two position players in the game: Jake Romanski went 2 for 2 and Anuery Tavarez was 1 for 3 with a double.

Williams Jerez, who represented the Sea Dogs’ pitching staff, threw a perfect inning of relief for the East with a pair of strikeouts.

Last year the game drew a sellout crowd to Hadlock Field in Portland.
