The traffic configuration at a busy intersection on Route 1 will be rearranged to make the area safer.
Changes were recommended in a 2014 road safety audit led by the Federal Highway Administration.
The fork at Route 1 and Route 88 is a heavily used and complicated intersection with multiple lanes and a quasi-traffic rotary.
The second travel lane on northbound Route 1 will be converted into a dedicated bicycling lane and the right turn location onto Route 88 has been moved to a new location.
