Agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency have charged a Dover-Foxcroft man with trafficking LSD and psychedelic mushrooms.

Jeremy Taylor, 25, was arrested without incident Wednesday when he arrived at the Hannaford parking lot in Belfast, where he was supposed to meet with an undercover agent who had expressed an interest in buying LSD.

In a press release, the agency said drug agents seized more than a pound of mushrooms and 100 doses of LSD. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be more than $8,000.

Taylor was taken to the Waldo County Jail in Belfast, where his bail was set at $5,000 cash. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 19.

Psilocybin mushrooms and LSD are strong hallucinogenic drugs that can cause long-term psychological damage. Taylor’s arrest followed an investigation by the MDEA’s midcoast district task force, Belfast police, and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
