A 34-year-old Houlton woman who had been missing since Monday was located alive on Tuesday afternoon, the Houlton Police Department said on its Facebook page.

Maine State Police, game wardens and other law enforcement agencies had joined in the search for Cassandra Nicole Bell, who was last seen Monday at 26 Bridge St. in Houlton and was considered to be endangered.

WCSH-TV said a family visiting the Evergreen Cemetery off Smyrna Street noticed a blue blanket that looked out of place and called 911.

When authorities showed up they found Bell on the edge of the cemetery overlooking a gravel pit. They say she was conscious and alert but did seem despondent.

She was transported by ambulance to Houlton Regional Hospital for a medical evaluation. The cemetery is located near Bell’s home.
