DENMARK — Maine State Police say a man was seriously injured when he tried to round up a neighbor’s bull that wandered into his yard.

Trooper Jason Wing tells The Sun Journal the man tried to return the bull to his neighbor on Sunday in Denmark after it broke through a fence. The bull apparently thumped the man repeatedly with its body as it was being wrangled.

The animal weighed between 600 and 700 pounds and was returned and put down by the owner.

Wing says the 42-year-old Denmark man was treated for serious injuries not considered life-threatening. His name wasn’t released.

He says he doesn’t believe the owner was negligent, but is submitting a report to the Oxford County District Attorney’s Office.
