Grandparenting classes

Southern Maine Health Care will offer a grandparenting class, a parenting refresher for grandparents-to-be, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at SMHC, 1 Medical Center Drive.

The class will include instruction in the basics of infant CPR, car seat safety and review new information.

The session is free but registration is required by calling 283-7350.

Weight loss surgery session

Southern Maine Health Care will offer a weight loss surgery information session from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at SMHC Medical Center, 1 Medical Center Drive.

This introductory class is designed to inform those considering weight loss surgery about options. Information will be presented about nutrition, resources and other topics to help with the lifestyle and emotional adjustments.

Gospel quartet to perform

The men’s gospel quartet Mark209 will perform at 7 p.m. Monday at the Kennebunk Baptist Church, 77 Main St.

Library’s Bedtime Math Party

Kennebunk Free Library will host a Bedtime Math Party at 12:30 p.m. Friday at 112 Main St.

Bedtime Math offers a daily math challenge via its website and downloadable app, at bedtimemath.org. There is no login, no scorekeeping and the answers are given. Three challenge levels, from simple counting to multiplication, are offered.

Children, ages 5 and older, who have completed at least one Bedtime Math activity over the course of the summer, can bring in their filled-in star chart to gain entry to an afternoon of fun math Olympics and snacks.

The Bedtime Math Party is free and wheelchair accessible.

Mosaic Quartet concert

Performances of “Letters from a Sailor,” a concert by the Mosaic Quartet, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Brick Store Museum, 117 Main St., to celebrate the Kennebunks’ maritime heritage

Veterans Car & Bike Cruise

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1044 and the Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1044 will host the Veterans Helping Veterans Car & Bike Cruise from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Cabela’s parking lot, 100 Cabela’s Blvd.

Classic cars will be on display, with trophies to be awarded. There are no class divisions and all classic car entries may compete. Registration for classic car owners is 8-9:30 a.m. The fee is $10.

Admission is free for spectators. The event will include music, a 50/50 drawing and raffle prizes.

Tree, farm walk scheduled

The Scarborough Land Trust will host Trees and Farms, a summer walk at Pleasant Hill Preserve at 10 a.m. Saturday on Pleasant Hill Road.

Portland’s city arborist Jeff Tarling will lead the walk. Trust board member Rita Breton will discuss the history of the farm on the property.

Invasive plants workshop

The Waldo County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Sebasticook Regional Land Trust will host a free Talk & Tour workshop at 1 p.m. Friday, focusing on invasive plants that are increasingly threatening area fields and forests.

Ecologist Aleta McKeage will explore invasive plants in real life situations, visiting area farms, Sebasticook Regional Land Trust preserves and working forests.
