Portland Plastic Pipe won the Greater Portland Senior Men’s Softball League championship, beating Pleasantdale 8-6 in the championship game. The team, made up of players from Cape Elizabeth, South Portland, Portland, Westbrook, Gorham, Windham and Augusta went 21-1 this season. It has won three of the last four championships with a record of 81-5 over that span.

Team members are Bobby Collins, Dan Sullivan, Randy Aspiras, Frank McLaughlin, Don Brown, Dave Sinclair, Jimmy Nugent, Buddy Larkin, Paul Samms, Jesse Shannon, Jimmy Jackson, Denny Lacombe, Steve Fitzgerald, Wayne Shaw and John Gildard.

Dana Allen aced the 15th hole at Gorham Country Club on Aug. 1. Allen used a 5-iron on the 165-yard shot, which was witnessed by Joe Pacillo and Rick Christensen.

John DeWolf hit a hole-in-one on the eighth hole at Sanford Country Club on Aug. 4. DeWolf used a pitching wedge on the 141-yard shot. The feat was witnessed by his playing partner, Nate DeWolf.

Ken Shone aced the 16th hole at Falmouth Country Club on Aug. 5. Shone used a 9-wood for the 140-yard shot. His playing partners were Rocco Toppi, Cash Wiseman and Bob Werner.

Jami Glicos of Windham hit his first hole-in-one on Aug. 7, using a 9-iron on the 104 yards 11th hole at Martindale. Sam Glicos and Evan Glicos witnessed the ace.

Dick Douty used a 4-iron to record a hole-in-one on the 184-yard fifth hole at Purpoodock Club on Aug. 7. Witnessing Douty’s first career ace was Bill Boeschenstein.
