Four crashes on the northbound side of the Maine Turnpike in Kittery tied up traffic Saturday afternoon.

A Maine State Police dispatcher said all of the crashes, which occurred after about 2:30 p.m., appeared to be minor and there were no immediate reports of injuries.

The dispatcher said she didn’t have any details on the collisions, which she said were cleared away by about 4 p.m.

Traffic has been heavy on the turnpike in both directions Saturday, she said, and the crashes backed up vehicles while police collected reports and wreckers were called. She said traffic was still heavy, but flowing, about 4 p.m.
