The state wants to replace the Frank J. Wood Bridge between Topsham and Brunswick. Fine, but both towns are nitpicking the Maine Department of Transportation engineers. Each has allowed eight citizens (16 total, plus town department heads) to give the MDOT suggestions for what they want to have for a bridge.
It will have bike and pedestrian paths. What more would these meetings solve? Let the engineers do their work and stop bothering them. I have to assume they’re experts in bridge building and citizens are not.
Let’s get this project going and stop wasting time in meetings and continued bickering. Brunswick is famous for that.
