CUMBERLAND — Mercedes Archer scored three minutes into the second overtime Wednesday to give Poland a 3-2 victory against Greely in a Western Maine Conference field hockey game.

Wednesday was the opening day for high school field hockey.

The Knights, trailing 2-1 at the half, tied it when Desiree Menard scored from Brianna Doucette early in the second half.

Lizzie Brown, from Maddy Perfetti and Maria Campbell, scored twice for Greely in the first half. Lexi Morry, from Menard, answered for Poland.

Ashley Cloutier and Ashton Sturtevant combined for five saves for the Knights. Kylie Rogers had 15 saves for Greely.

FREEPORT 4, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1: Bailey Coffin scored a pair of first-quarter goals and Chloe Davidson converted a penalty stroke as the Falcons opened a 3-0 halftime lead at Freeport.

Arianna Sapuan scored with 13 minutes remaining for Gray-New Gloucester before Alexa Koenig made it 4-1 with five minutes left for Freeport.

Megan Seymour stopped five shots for the Falcons.

WINTHROP 9, TELSTAR 0: Kinli DiBiase and Emily Molino scored three goals each as Winthrop won at home.

Moriah Hajduk, Kate Perkins and Hanna Caprara also scored as Winthrop amassed 14 corners and 36 shots.

Perry Morton had 20 saves for Telstar.

SKOWHEGAN 6, BREWER 0: Julia Steeves had two goals and two assists to spark the Indians at Brewer.

Mailea Kelso added a goal and two assists, and Elizabeth York had a goal and an assist. Mariah Dunbar and Hannah Genest also scored.
