GORHAM — Bella Robinson scored the tying goal – her second of the game – with 18 minutes left in regulation to help Thornton Academy earn a 3-3 tie against Gorham in a Class A South field hockey game Saturday.

Gorham (1-0-1) led 2-1 at halftime on goals from Grace McGouldrick and Molly Barr, and made it 3-1 early in the second half on a goal by Jamie Juskiewicz.

Grace Decker answered for Thornton (1-0-1) before Robinson scored the tying goal.

MASSABESIC 2, SCARBOROUGH 1: Logan Champlin scored off a pass from Kaylee St. Laurent with 13 minutes left in the second half to lift the Mustangs (2-0) to a win over the Red Storm (0-2) in Waterboro.

Cara Reynolds put Scarborough ahead three minutes into the game, assisted by Ashley Levesque. Massabesic’s Sophia Lafrance tied the game later in the first half.

Scarborough goalie Sam Carriero made 10 saves, while Madyson Pomerleau stopped five shots for Massabesic.

BIDDEFORD 6, PORTLAND 0: Paige Laverriere scored four goals to lead the Tigers to a season-opening win over the Bulldogs (1-1) in Biddeford.

Hailey Allen added two goals and an assist, and Peyton McKe-own and Megan Mourmouras each had one assist for Biddeford, which led 3-0 at halftime.

Madeline Pettengill made 10 saves for Portland.

CHEVERUS 3, WINDHAM 0: Hannah Abbott, Sophia Pompeo and Caroline Ford scored as the Stags (2-0) defeated the Eagles (1-1) in Portland.

ERSKINE ACADEMY 3, OCEANSIDE 2: Audrey Jones scored with 3:15 remaining to lift the Eagles (1-1) to a win in South China.

Keeley Gomes and Chantelle Roddy also scored for Erskine.

Erin Dugan notched both goals for Oceanside (0-2).

LAWRENCE 3, MT. VIEW 0: Lexi Laverdiere scored one goal and assisted on the other two as the Bulldogs (1-1) beat the Mustangs (0-2) in Fairfield.

SANFORD 4, SOUTH PORTLAND 3: Vanessa Hodge scored three goals to lead the Spartans (1-0) over the Red Riots (1-0) in Sanford.

Kristen O’Connell added a goal and an assist for Sanford, which led 3-1 at halftime.

WINDHAM 8, WESTBROOK 0: Meghan Hoffses and Hannah Kaplan each scored twice in the second half to lead the Eagles (1-0) over the Blue Blazes (0-1) in Windham.

Maggie Symonds and Alana Joyce staked Windham to a 2-0 halftime lead. Holly Spencer and Maggie Lloyd each chipped in with a goal in the second half.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 1, YORK 0: Hannah Dixon scored on a free kick with less then 30 seconds remaining to give the Patriots a season-opening win in York.

York outshot Gray-New Gloucester 20-2. Isabelle DeTroy made 15 saves for the Patriots.

GORHAM 9, MAINE GIRLS’ ACADEMY 0: Alexis Fotter, Emma Forgues and Tiril Wiig each scored twice as the Rams defeated the Lions in a season opener in Gorham.

Caitlin Chasse, Courtney Cushing and Emily Esposito each recorded a goal.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 3, ST. DOMINIC ACADEMY 1: Kaylie Eastman scored two goals to lead the Raiders past the Saints in a season opener in Fryeburg.

The Raiders took a 2-0 lead into halftime behind goals by Eastman and Sophia Trepohl.

Kristina Cornelio scored for St. Dom’s.

WAYNFLETE 6, POLAND 0: Thorne Kieffer and Mykel Henry each had two assists and six players scored for the Flyers (1-0-1) in a win over the Knights (0-1) in Portland.

Christian Brooks opened the scoring two minutes into the game. Ilyas Abdi and Isaaq Bashir added to the lead before halftime, and Burr Rhodes, Askar Hussein and Oliver Burdick scored in the second half.

MESSALONSKEE 4, HAMPDEN ACADEMY 2: James Kouletsis scored a pair of goals and assisted on another as the Eagles won their opener in Oakland.

Ryan McCarthy and Dylan Labun also scored for Messalonskee.

WINTHROP/MONMOUTH 31, LISBON 12: Matt Ingram connected with Bennett Brooks for two touchdown passes and also rushed for a touchdown to lead the Ramblers over the Greyhounds in Lisbon Falls.

Ingram was 8 of 13 for 178 yards passing, including TD passes of 59 and 30 yards as Winthrop/Monmouth built a 21-6 halftime lead. Ingram scored on a 38-yard run in the third quarter.

Fullback Alec Brown gained 87 yards on 13 carries and opened the scoring with a 2-yard run in the first quarter.

OAK HILL 38, MARANACOOK 18: Matt Strout threw three touchdown passes in his first varsity start as the three-time defending Class D state champs won an opener in Wales.

Strout rushed for 86 yards on 11 carries and completed 4 of 8 passes for 98 yards. He had touchdown passes of 10 yards to Darryn Bailey, 20 yards to Austin Pierce and 55 yards to Steve Gilbert.

Drew Davis rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns for Maranacook.

WINSLOW 59, BELFAST 0: The Black Raiders allowed just 69 yards as they opened the defense of their Class C state championship with their 23rd straight victory and fifth consecutive regular-season shutout, in Winslow.

Dylan Hutchinson had a pair of first-half interceptions for the Black Raiders.

OLD TOWN 50, WATERVILLE 17: T.J. Crawford ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns, powering a multi-faceted offense for the Coyotes in a win over the Purple Panthers at Waterville.
