The Republicans in the State House, who are refusing to do anything to rein in our clearly dangerous, embarrassing and volatile governor, are now in the position of the proverbial (stereotypical) liberal parent, who, when faced with the damage their child has done to persons or property, responds with serious hand-wringing and something like “… Well, yes, it was wrong of him, and of course he knows better and he will apologize for what he did, and we hope this will not happen again.” And nothing more.

And, of course, this does nothing to change anyone’s behavior. We are expected to base our future on empty hope.

This is what is being offered by our Republican representatives and senators in the Legislature. And then they have the gall to try to turn it around and blame the Democrats for making it an issue! I guess they do follow in the governor’s footsteps.
