LINCOLN — A man is facing charges after police say he drove as fast as 100 mph while rushing his father to a local hospital after the 68-year-old was injured in a chain saw accident.

WCSH-TV reports Justin Osgood was charged Tuesday with driving to endanger and other offenses stemming from the incident.

Police say the southern Aroostook County man was observed driving upward of 100 mph along state Route 2 in a mad dash to the closest hospital, which was 24 miles away in Lincoln.

Osgood’s mother, Pamela, says her husband Dwight takes blood thinners and was close to death after injuring himself. Believing his father could soon bleed out, Osgood decided to drive him to the hospital himself.

It’s unclear if Osgood has an attorney who could comment.
