KENNEBUNKPORT – Lifestyle is pretty sweet here in the coastal village of Cape Porpoise. You can swim in Samson Cove; fine-dine at Pier 77 or enjoy a relaxed lunch at The Ramp or at Nunan’s Lobster Hut; and visit Goose Rocks and other nearby beaches, to say nothing of all the attractions of renowned, bustling Dock Square, two miles away.

Home, for the new owner, will be a splendid, expanded, true post-and-beam Cape that sits on a quiet, leafy lane behind a hedge of rosa rugosa, as befits the seaside locale.

The addition of the above-garage master suite – whose big, bright, cathedral ceiling bedroom features double-double closets, a wide Palladian window, a desk alcove, and a dressing area with a Corian counter – means that there are two “masters.”

The original, in the south wing of the house, is front-to-back, and has an exposed-beams cathedral ceiling and extra closets. The skylight has a cool, rustic shutter, as does one of the other two upstairs bedrooms. The full bath serving them has a vaulted ceiling.

A towering stone chimney presides over the main level; there’s a handsome propane stove on the hearth in the back-to-front living room. Flooring here is Southern yellow pine. Warm with wood, the kitchen pleases with Corian surfaces and black appliances in contrast.

Off the “mud” room is a screened porch that opens to a broad deck overlooking a gorgeous, very private, very green back yard, whose lawn rolls a bit up to a little knoll. Close by is a maple tree whose low-growing multiple trunks provide a perfect spot to sit and read.

The home at 9 Fishers Lane, Kennebunkport, is listed for sale at $639,000 by Heidi Burns Maynard and Corey Burns Gagnon of Pack Maynard Real Estate . Annual taxes are $4,118.
