Lewiston police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a mentally disabled 64-year-old man who was reported missing from his home.

Claude Hopkins of Macsullivan Street was last seen Friday afternoon entering the woods at the end of Jenkins Street, a short walk from his home, said Lewiston police Lt. David St. Pierre. He was wearing a blue shirt and a red shirt, and carrying a colostomy bag.

Hopkins is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 175 pounds.

St. Pierre said anybody who finds him should call 911 but should not approach him because he is sometimes uncooperative with strangers.

Lewiston police, with help from the Maine Warden Service, began a search but had not found Hopkins as of 8 p.m. Friday.
