SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Ryan McDonald rushed for a 15-yard go-ahead touchdown with 9:04 left in the fourth quarter as Tufts rallied to beat Bates 12-7 on Saturday.

After a scoreless first quarter, Willie Holmquist put the Jumbos (2-0) up 6-0 at halftime with a pair of field goals, hitting from 22 and 48 yards.

Sandy Plashkes connected with Brian Daly for a 30-yard score to give Bates (0-2) the lead with 11:58 left in the third quarter. McDonald’s score in the fourth completed a nine-play, 63-yard drive.

McDonald rushed for 75 yards on 11 carries, while Chance Brady rushed 32 times for 140 yards for Tufts.

Mickoy Nichol ran for 51 yards on nine carries for Bates.

MIDDLEBURY 35, COLBY 14: Jared Lebowitz threw for five touchdowns as the Panthers scored 35 straight points for a win over the Mules at Waterville.

After a scoreless third quarter, Middlebury (2-0, 2-0 NESCAC) scored three times in a span of six minutes.

Colby finally broke through with 12 minutes left in the fourth with a 2-yard rush from Christian Sparacio. Sparacio later found Sebastian Ferrell for a 29-yard touchdown with 2:28 left.

HUSSON 33, SUNY MARITIME 12: John Smith had 222 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns as Husson (3-1, 1-0 ECFC) over the Privateers (2-2, 0-1) at Throggs Neck, New York.

Smith scored on runs of 3 and 21 yards while Andre Miller caught a 31-yard touchdown pass to give Husson a 20-3 lead going into halftime.

Smith ran for 164 yards on 28 attempts and caught two passes for 58 yards.

COAST GUARD 36, MAINE MARITIME 30: Derek Victory threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for a touchdown as the Bears (2-3, 1-1 NEFC) held on to beat the Mariners (1-3, 0-2) at New London, Connecticut.

The Mariners cut the deficit to 22-16 on a 72-yard touchdown pass from Corey Creeger to Derek Breunig and a two-point rush by Jacob Doolan with 1:32 remaining in the first half.

Coast Guard quickly regained control when Chip Crowley returned the ensuing kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown.

Creeger threw for 229 yards and three touchdowns and Jordan Susi caught four passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns.

Doolan finished with 118 yards rushing on 16 carries.

AMHERST 31, BOWDOIN 10: Alex Berluti threw for 187 yards and two TDs as Amherst (2-0, 2-0 NESCAC) downed the Polar Bears (0-2, 0-2) at Brunswick.

Bowdoin quarterback Noah Nelson threw for 123 yards and one touchdown, a 9-yard pass to Nick Vailas with 9:48 left.

Vailas caught four passes for 48 yards and Andrew Sisti kicked a 25-yard field goal for the Polar Bears, who were outgained by a 505-132 margin.
