A man was taken into police custody and transported to Mid Coast Hospital for an evaluation Monday after a brief standoff at a home on Goldeneye Drive in Topsham.

Police said the man was holding a knife to his neck and threatening suicide when they arrived. Officers responded around 5:13 p.m. Monday.

The man surrendered and was taken into custody. He did not harm himself.

“It appears the situation was resolved in 10 minutes,” said Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry.
