A vehicle fire on Interstate 95 briefly closed both lanes of southbound traffic at mile marker 55 in Falmouth Tuesday afternoon, according to the Maine Turnpike Authority.

The MTA first posted a notice on Twitter about the fire at 1 p.m. All traffic was stopped for roughly 15 minutes, according to the agency, causing moderate delays.

No one was injured in the fire, said Erin Courtney, MTA spokeswoman.

Photos posted to the agency’s Twitter account show a white sedan in flames on the shoulder of the roadway.
