ORONO — Vivien Beil scored on a shot from just outside the penalty area with less three minutes remaining in the second overtime, giving the University of Maine a 1-0 win over New Hampshire in an America East women’s soccer match Sunday afternoon.

Kaitlyn Ball assisted on the goal as the Black Bears improved to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

Maine keeper Samantha Cobotic made eight saves for her third shutout of the season. Mimi Borkan stopped seven shots for UNH (6-5-3, 3-2-1).

WILLIAMS 2, BOWDOIN 0: Audrey Thomas scored in the first half and Kristina Alvarado added a second-half goal as the Ephs (12-0-1, 7-0-1 NESCAC) beat the Polar Bears (8-4, 4-3) in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

BATES 7, MAINE MARITIME 0: Nate Merchant notched a hat trick to lead the Bobcats (5-6-2) over the Mariners (4-8-1) in Castine.

Peabo Knoth recorded two goals, and Justin Yacovino and Matt DiVite also scored.

Mariners goalie Andrew Coleman recorded nine saves. Robbie Montanaro stopped two shots for Bates.

BOWDOIN 1, WILLIAMS 1: Mark Sisco-Tolomeo of Williams (7-2-3, 4-2-1 NESCAC) scored the tying goal in the 74th minute as the Ephs earned a draw against Bowdoin (7-3-3, 3-3-2) in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

The Polar Bears took the lead in the 54th minute on a goal by Ethan Ellsworth, assisted by Matty McColl.

Mohammed Rashid assisted on the tying goal.

Noah Safian of Bowdoin and Christian Alcorn of Williams each recorded two saves.

FIELD HOCKEY

WILLIAMS 2, BOWDOIN 1: Meredith Wright scored in the 53rd minute to lift the Ephs (9-4, 5-3 NESCAC) over the Polar Bears (9-3, 5-3) in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Kara Finnerty scored an unassisted goal in the 28th minute to give the Polar Bears a 1-0 lead.

The Ephs tied it 10 minutes into the second half on a goal by Rachel Brissette, assisted by Meredith Wright. Brissette later assisted on Wright’s winning goal.

Bowdoin goalie Margaret Draper recorded two saves. Clara Belitz stopped 13 shots for Williams.

RUGBY

NORWICH 29, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 12: Caitlin Heale had two tries to lift the Cadets (2-5) over the Nor’easters (4-2) in Biddeford.

Andrea Call and Heather Baron each scored a try for UNE, and Emma Foss kicked a conversion.
