I’m voting in my first election, and I’m voting to re-elect Republican state Sen. Amy Volk. Last year, Amy took a brave position when she created an amendment to the budget that would give asylum-seekers 24 months to become legal Mainers.
She took heat for this position, but she knew it was the right thing to do. Amy is as tenacious as she is courageous. If not for Sen. Volk, Maine would have put at least 1,000 families on the streets.
Some say, “We need to take care of Maine citizens!” Talk to the Department of Health and Human Services or the Labor Department. You will discover we have countless programs for Mainers.
Most immigrants, just like most native Mainers, want to work and become productive members of society.
I’m an example of the American Dream, and that is why I support Amy Volk. Amy Volk is a leader. Vote for state Sen. Amy Volk.
