District 34 Democratic candidate Jonathan “Jay” Kilbourn would be a strong voice for universal and affordable health care in the Maine Senate.

For 15 years, I have worked for public health in Maine. One of the most serious issues we currently face is the opiate overdose crisis. We are hampered in this work by lack of support from the state for proven strategies in drug treatment, rehabilitation and prevention.

We must break the shackles of unnecessarily limited Medicaid funds. Our state Legislature has been thwarted five times by our governor.

Jonathan Kilbourn knows that Medicaid expansion will help us address this dangerous drug crisis now on top of us, reduce overall health care costs and provide needed security to our most challenged families. Medicaid expansion results in job creation and economic development and will help our working families.
