Lily Posternak, York field hockey: The senior midfielder scored both goals to lead York to a 2-1 win over Belfast in the Class B state championship game, York’s third consecutive title and 54th straight win.

HONORABLE MENTION

Kayley Cimino, Greely volleyball: The senior powered the Rangers to their ninth state championship and first since 2012 by lifting them to a 3-1 win over Scarborough in the Class A title match. Cimino, who had five assists and four kills in the game, won 15 straight service points in the second set.

Katherine Leckbee, Mt. Ararat cross country: A junior, Leckbee ran away from a field of 85 at the Class A North meet in Belfast to win by more than a minute in 18 minutes, 46 seconds. She was the only girl from any class to break 19 minutes on the 5-kilometer course at Troy Howard Middle School.

Leah Dickman, Scarborough soccer: The sophomore forward has scored three of Scarborough’s four playoff goals – leading the No. 2 Red Storm past Windham in a Class A South semifinal with both of Scarborough’s goals. Dickman also scored in the Red Storm’s 2-0 quarterfinal win over Sanford.

Paul Buchanan, Greely football: The 6-foot-4, 210-pound senior defensive end had two sacks, blocked a punt and helped the Rangers hold Falmouth to 129 yards rushing in a Class B quarterfinal. Greely upset the Yachtsmen 20-7 six days after Falmouth had beaten the Rangers, 14-0.

HONORABLE MENTION

Luke Laverdiere, Yarmouth cross country: A junior, Laverdiere defended his Class B South cross country title at Twin Brook Recreation Area with a best-of-the-day time of 16 minutes, 13 seconds over 5 kilometers. No runner from any class came within 20 seconds of that time.

Jackson Fotter, Gorham soccer: The senior forward notched a hat trick in Gorham’s 5-1 Class A South quarterfinal win over Westbrook. Fotter added another goal in the top-seeded Rams’ 3-1 victory over Scarborough in the semifinals. He has 35 goals this season.

Alex Millones, Portland soccer: The freshman midfielder led the No. 6 Bulldogs to a 3-2 overtime upset win over No. 2 Falmouth with a goal and an assist in a Class A South semifinal.
