These lines from the 23rd Psalm remind me that the dark and divisive times we are presently confronted with are nothing new to the human condition. With hard work (and prayer), we will get through this one as well. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me.”
As the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. said (quoting American Transcendentalist Theodore Parker): “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”
