WATERVILLE — Bowdoin took a 24-point lead at the half and cruised to its fifth-straight women’s basketball win to open the season, beating Colby 60-38 on Saturday.

Lydia Caputi scored nine points for Bowdoin (5-0), which took a 19-9 lead after one quarter and led 40-16 at halftime.

Kate Kerrigan and Taylor Choate each scored eight points for the Polar Bears, while Marle Curle had six points, eight rebounds and nine assists.

Emily Davis scored seven points for Colby (3-3).

SOUTHERN MAINE 66, EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 57: Alexa Srolovitz made a 3-pointer to start the fourth quarter to give the Huskies (2-5, 1-0 Little East) the lead on their win over the Warriors (3-3, 0-1) 17-7 in Gorham.

Srolovitz scored seven points in the fourth quarter, when Southern Maine outscored Easter Connecticut 17-7. She finished with 19 points.

Jackie Luckhardt added 10 points for USM, while Jordyn Nappi scored 14 for the Warriors.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 62, SALVE REGINA 47: Sadie Nelson scored 27 points as the Nor’easters (5-2, 2-0 Commonwealth Coast) beat the Seahawks (1-5, 0-2) in Biddeford.

Nelson went 11 for 18 and added five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Alicia Brown chipped in 10 points.

Allyson Esielionis had 11 points and Kerri Beland 10 for Salve Regina.

HUSSON 60, BATES 44: Chandler Guerrette had 17 points, six assists, five rebounds and five steals as the Eagles (3-0) snapped their 18-game losing streak against the Bobcats (2-1), in Bangor.

Darla Morales added 13 points, while Kenzie Worcester had 12 points and nine rebounds for Husson. Tate Dolley added 10 points.

Nina Davenport scored 13 points for Bates.

ST. JOSEPH’S 70, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 54: The Monks (5-1, 2-0 GNAC) opened the second half with a 17-2 run, capped by Kelsi McNamara’s 3-pointer, to pull away from the Falcons (4-4, 1-1) in Standish.

McNamara finished with 16 points, Abbie Eastman had 12, and Hannah Marks added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

McFerran contributed 11 points for the Monks and Emily Benway grabbed 11 rebounds.

Olivia Bolden scored 15 points and Jill Johnson had 12 for Albertus Magnus.

SOUTHERN MAINE C.C. 65, UMAINE-MACHIAS 41: Emily Hogan scored 15 points as the Seawolves (10-0, 5-0 Yankee Small College Conference) beat the Clippers (4-5, 4-2) in South Portland.

Jordan Farquharson added 12 points and Alicia Ruth had 10.

Alicen Brooks scored 16 points and Linda Riley finished with 13 for UM-Machias.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 2, ST. ANSELM 2: The Polar Bears (2-0-2) took a 2-0 lead early in the second period, but St. Anselm (8-1-1) tied it with a goal in the second period and another in third at Watson Arena.

Katie Leininger scored in the first period and Julie Dachille in the second for Bowdoin.

Maura Kieft scored both goals for St. Anselm.

Sophia Lattanzio made 33 saves for Bowdoin, while Maddie Scavotto had 14 saves for the Hawks.

HAMILTON 3, COLBY 0: Michaela Giuttari, Katie Parkman and Caroline Knop scored as the Continentals (3-2, 3-1 NESCAC) beat the Mules (0-5-1, 0-3-1) in Waterville.

Hamilton scored in each period on its way to its second straight 3-0 win over Colby. The Continentals won by the same score Friday night.

Sam Walther stopped 26 shots for Hamilton. Hannah Insuik had 27 saves for the Mules.

SOUTHERN MAINE 7, POST 0: Julia Ormsby recorded a pair of goals, Katie Nolan contributed a goal and two assists, and the Huskies (3-5) routed the Eagles (0-7) in Shelton, Connecticut.

Katie Couture added a goal and an assist for the Huskies. Jensen Hamblett, Alex Mitchell and Emilee Burris also scored, and Grace Simmons had three assists.

Whitney Padgett made eight saves for USM.

Jenna Baumgartner made 49 saves and Samantha Griswold had eight for Post.
