An Augusta man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.

Joshua Harrison, 34, entered his guilty plea Thursday in U.S. District Court in Bangor.

Officers with the U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations division, the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the Augusta Police Department learned in August 2015 that Harrison had child pornography in his email account. A search warrant executed on his laptop computer, as well as on a second computer of Harrison’s that was in a local pawn shop, turned up multiple images of child pornography. In addition, Harrison admitted to agents that he had obtained child pornography by email and sent messages to people in online chat rooms seeking to obtain images.

Harrison will be sentenced after a report is filed by the U.S. Probation Office. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
