Police say a Maine man who was in the middle of the road died Saturday after being hit by a pickup truck on Interstate 495 in Lowell, Massachusetts, according to New England Cable News.
Early Saturday morning, police got reports that a pickup truck hit a pedestrian on Route 495, NECN reported. The initial investigation revealed the truck was heading south when it hit a 39-year-old man from the Penobscot County town of Bradford whom police did not immediately identify. The man’s car was in the nearby breakdown lane, but police said he had been on foot in the second travel lane of the road.
The Bradford man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to NECN. The driver, a 61-year-old man from Chelmsford, Massachusetts, was taken to Lowell General Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
