Two Maine men have been arrested following a high speed chase Friday that started in Fryeburg and ended in New Hampshire.

Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin identifed the men as Robert “Dalton” Parker, 23, and Tyler Judyski, 28, both of Fryeburg.

“A common misconception is once you cross state lines officers will discontinue pursuits. Unlike the movies, we will continue across state lines under appropriate conditions to apprehend a fleeing suspect,” Potvin said in a statement.

The chase started late Friday evening after an officer received a report of suspicious activity at the Irving Lil Mart parking lot.

As the officer and another officer were issuing Parker, the driver, a traffic violation, he sped off, nearly hitting the officers.

Fryeburg police pursued the vehicle into New Hampshire at speeds of over 90 mph before calling off the chase because of safety concerns. An Oxford County deputy located the vehicle on Intervale Drive in Fryeburg, but his cruiser was rammed by the Subaru.

The chase ended on a dirt road in New Hampshire where Parker, Judyski and a 19-year-old Standish woman were taken into custody by New Hampshire state police. The woman was not arrested.

Parker faces multiple charges including driving to endanger, eluding an officer, operating after suspension, criminal mischief, reckless driving, fugitive from justice and transporting a controlled drug (heroin). Judyski was charged with possession. Both men are being held at the Carroll County Jail in Ossipee, New Hampshire. They are scheduled to make their first court appearance on Jan. 10.
