AUGUSTA — A Revere, Massachusetts, man known as “uncle” has been charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated drug trafficking over a two-month period in Augusta.

Jaime R. Brea, 50, allegedly drove a rental car between Augusta and Massachusetts to bring heroin to his four “nephews” to sell from “trap houses” in Augusta, according to court documents.

Brea was arrested Wednesday during a motor vehicle stop on Mount Vernon Avenue in Augusta, and was held on $25,000 bail after a hearing Thursday at the Capital Judicial Center via video from the Kennebec County jail.

The nephews go by local nicknames, Cash or Kash, Splash, Trip and Jay EZ, according to an affidavit by Special Agent Nathan Walker of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. People with those nicknames were arrested Dec. 20 in a hotel room in Augusta, where police reported finding “a .380 semi-automatic handgun, marijuana, and ledgers documenting drug amounts, drug houses and sales,” Walker wrote.

Walker’s affidavit also said that a search of Brea’s vehicle turned up a notebook that listed 10 of the 12 people who were arrested on Dec. 20.

Walker said vehicles rented to Brea were found on Bond Street, Water Street and Mount Vernon Avenue, and surveillance by police indicated the vehicles made frequent trips between Boston and Augusta.

A co-defendant told police that he made a trip to New York with Brea in one of the vehicles to pick up drugs, and that Brea has a phone line for people to call and order drugs.
