LEWISTON — Courtney Brochu scored two goals Wednesday night to lead Scarborough to a 4-3 victory against Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete/South Portland in a girls’ hockey game at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Scarborough (8-1-1) led 4-1 through two periods and held off a comeback by the Capers (4-6).

Lauren Topchick and Brochu scored in the first period to give the Red Storm a 2-0 lead. Scarborough made it 3-0 when Brochu scored in the second before Katherine Zajkowski answered for Cape Elizabeth. Katie Loisel made it 4-1 by the end of the period.

Katherine Grinder scored twice in the final period for the Capers.

GREELY 6, LEWISTON/MONMOUTH ACADEMY/OAK HILL 0: Courtney Sullivan notched three goals and an assist to lead the Rangers (9-1) past Lewiston (4-5-1) at Falmouth.

Bridget Roberts and Ellie Schad added a goal and an assist each, with Emilee McGillicuddy scoring the other goal. Natalie Swisher had two assists.

FALMOUTH 8, GORHAM/BONNY EAGLE/WINDHAM 1: Evie Clement scored three goals as the visiting Yachtsmen (11-2) cruised past Gorham (3-8).

BOYS’ HOCKEY

SOUTH PORTLAND/FREEPORT/WAYNFLETE 6, NOBLE/WELLS 1: Mitchell Adams scored twice, and Deven Hannan and Ian Young added goals as South Portland (1-5-1) scored four times in a 2:32 span late in the first period, and defeated the Knights (3-4) at Rochester, New Hampshire.

The goals were the first four of five power-play goals for the Red Riots, who also received a short-handed goal.

Young and Adams finished with two goals and an assist each. Max Winson also scored for the Red Riots and Gus Lappin had three assists. Seth Batchelder answered for Noble.

FALMOUTH 4, BANGOR 2: Theo Hembre and Lou Mainella broke a scoreless tie with early second-period goals, and Falmouth (5-0-1) went on to beat the Rams (4-4) at Bangor.

David Hawkes led the Yachtsmen with two goals; Mainella finished with a goal and two assists. Josh Sherwood had both goals for Bangor.

Falmouth goalie Spencer Pierce stopped 18 shots. Derek Fournier of Bangor turned aside 35.

MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE 7, BRUNSWICK 2: Tyler LaCascio had two goals and Parker Lacey made 19 saves as Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse defeated the Dragons at Brunswick.
Bradley Boulet, Ryley Austin, Mark Abreu, Sam Alexander and Jason Magno also scored for Mt. Ararat.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

FREEPORT 42, SACOPEE VALLEY 34: Taylor Rinaldi and Regan Lynch each scored six of the 19 fourth-quarter points for Freeport (5-2), which rallied past the Hawks (2-7) at South Hiram.

Freeport opened with a 15-2 run and led 20-13 at the half. But Helen Ruhlin scored eight points during a 14-3 surge in the third quarter that gave Sacopee a 27-23 lead.

Ruhlin finished with 15 points and Lynch 13.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 27, BUCKFIELD 12: Alexandra Goodman had eight points, 12 rebounds and six assists for the Breakers (5-2), who took an 8-0 lead after the first quarter and defeated the Bucks (2-6) at Freeport.

Angel Hood added eight points and seven rebounds for the Breakers, who led 15-3 at halftime. Kali Litchfield paced Buckfield with five points.

RANGELEY 47, TEMPLE 28: Natasha Haley had 16 points and six rebounds to lead Rangeley (7-2) over Temple (7-2) at Rangeley.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

LAKE REGION 54, FREEPORT 40: Mark Mayo scored 14 points as the Lakers (4-5) steadily pulled away from Freeport (2-6) at Naples.

Tyler Walker and True Meyers added 10 each for Lake Region. Eriksen Shea scored 12 points for the Falcons.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 46, BUCKFIELD 44: Najee Jean-Louis scored a game-high 23 points and the Breakers (3-4) held on to beat the Bucks (3-7) at Freeport.

Jared Tamaleaa chipped in with 11 points for Pine Tree, which led 39-31 going into the fourth quarter.

Jacob Kraske scored 12 points to lead Buckfield.
