When one door closes another opens (sort of).
The end of an era has arrived with the announcement that the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is closing. Nearly 150 years of family entertainment will no longer thrill and entrance us.
Meanwhile, another three-ring circus is just getting started. In Ring No. 1 will be the U.S. House of Representatives, in Ring 2 will be the U.S. Senate and in Ring 3 will be the Supreme Court. To lead us through this new circus is the ringmaster, a bombastic showman who believes, like P.T. Barnum himself, that “there is a sucker born every minute.”
Will this new circus thrill and entertain us? Only time will tell. However, the audience for this show is a captive one, and we can only hope that the price of admission is not too high.
