ALBANY, N.Y. — David Nichols scored 28 points on 12-of-19 shooting, Devonte Campbell added a career-high 13 points, and Albany never trailed in beating Maine 81-63 on Sunday for its third straight America East men’s basketball win.

Nichols scored 13 points in the first half as Albany took a 33-22 lead.

Maine closed to 37-35 in the second half on Wes Myers’ layup, but the Great Danes pulled away with a 19-3 run, capped by Campbell’s two free throws for a 56-38 lead, and Albany was never threatened the rest of the way.

Travis Charles scored 12 points for the Great Danes (12-9, 3-3 America East), who outscored the Black Bears 46-30 in the paint and scored 19 points off 15 turnovers.

Myers scored 18 points for Maine (5-17, 1-6), which has lost four straight.

(22) XAVIER 86, GEORGETOWN 75: Edmond Sumner overcame a painful left shoulder and led a second-half surge that lifted the Musketeers (14-4, 4-3 Big East) over the Hoyas (10-1, 1-6) in Cincinnati, ending Xavier’s three-game losing streak – its longest in three years.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

(1) UCONN 100, TULANE 56: Katie Lou Samuelson scored 32 points and the Huskies (18-0, 6-0 AAC) extended their record winning streak to 93 games with a rout of the Green Wave (12-7, 3-3) in Storrs, Connecticut.

The 6-foot-3 sophomore hit 11 of 18 shots to come within two points of her career high set Tuesday against Tulsa.

Kia Nurse added 18 points and Napheesa Collier had 17 for Connecticut (18-0, 6-0), which has never lost an American Athletic Conference game. The Huskies are 60-0 in the regular season and 9-0 in the three conference tournaments.

(3) MARYLAND 80, RUTGERS 71: Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 19 points, Kaila Charles added 16 and the Terrapins (19-1, 7-0 Big Ten) bounced back from a lackluster first half to beat the Knights (6-15, 3-5) for their seventh straight victory, in College Park, Maryland. The Terrapins got 11 points and 13 rebounds from Brionna Jones.

(6) NOTRE DAME 77, NORTH CAROLINA 55: Brianna Turner had 24 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks to help the Fighting Irish (18-3, 6-1 ACC) beat the Tar Heels (12-8, 1-6) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

(7) FLORIDA STATE 82, (17) VIRGINIA TECH 54: Leticia Romero scored 18 points and the Seminoles (19-2, 7-1 ACC) took the lead early and gradually pulled away in a victory over the Hokies (16-3, 3-3) in Blacksburg, Virginia.

(8) WASHINGTON 87, WASHINGTON STATE 44: Chantel Osahor grabbed a Pac-12-record 30 rebounds and scored 20 points to lead the Huskies (19-2, 7-1 Pac-12) to a rout of the Cougars (8-11, 3-5) in Pullman, Washington.

(9) LOUISVILLE 66, (23) SOUTH FLORIDA 52: Myisha Hines-Allen scored 27 points and added 12 rebounds as the Cardinals (18-4) beat the Bulls (15-3) in Tampa, Florida.

SYRACUSE 81, (14) MIAMI 48: Brittney Sykes scored a season-high 29 points to go with 11 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and three steals, and the Orange (14-7, 5-2 ACC) beat the Hurricanes (14-5, 3-4) in Syracuse, New York.

(15) DUKE 67, BOSTON COLLEGE 44: Lexie Brown scored 22 points and the Blue Devils (17-3, 5-2 ACC) forced 25 turnovers in a victory over the Eagles (8-12, 1-6) in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

(16) OHIO STATE 88, ILLINOIS 64: Kelsey Mitchell made six 3-pointers and scored 22 points to lead the Buckeyes (17-5, 7-1 Big 10) to a rout of the Fighting Illini (8-12, 3-4) for their third straight win.
