WATERVILLE — A dozen Colby College students received summonses off the campus Tuesday after police received a report of people smashing beer bottles on a city street, Deputy Chief Bill Bonney said.

Police went to Carroll Street around 1 a.m. and reportedly found two men on the street who admitted to drinking alcohol, although they were under 21. They said they had been drinking at 4 Carroll St., Bonney said.

When officers arrived at the house they allegedly found the renters — six Colby College students — had thrown a party involving underage drinking.

The renters charged with allowing minors to drink alcohol, a class D misdemeanor, were Cillian Connor, 21, of Waterville; and Graham S. Lian, 21, of Alexandria, Virginia. The charge could result in a fine of at least $1,000, which would be mandatory if one of the drinkers was under 18.

Four more were charged with both the misdemeanor and a civil violation for drinking alcohol while under 21: Matthew David Sindler, 20, of Annapolis, Maryland; Daniel J. Schoenfeld, 20, of Evanston, Illinois; Tucker G. Dietrick, 20, of Wellesley, Massachusetts; and Kevin Arthur Beil, 20, of Manhasset, New York.

Those charged with just the civil violation for underage drinking, which carries of fine $200 to $400 for the first offense, were Patrick Henry Yale, 19, of Haverhill, Massachusetts; Gregory P. Whalen, 20, of Melrose, Massachusetts; John M. Baron, 20, of Medfield, Massachusetts; Max Bowers Manos, 20, of Cold Spring Harbor, New York; Ryan James Quinn, 19, of Langrangeville, New York; and Samuel R. Friedman, 20, of Abington, Massachusetts.
