A school bus driver failed to stop at a stop sign Tuesday morning in Lebanon and collided with a car, according to police.

The only student on the bus, a 9-year-old boy, was uninjured, but the driver of the car was taken to Southern Maine Health Care in Sanford with minor injuries.

Trooper John Darcy said 80-year-old school bus driver Roberta Sanborn of Lebanon did not come to a complete stop at an intersection on Center Road and drove into the path of a car driven by 20-year-old John Izzarelli of Lebanon. Sanborn and an adult attendant on the bus were not injured.

The crash happened at 7:45 a.m. Sanborn was not cited by police, Darcy said.

There was minor damage to the front end of the bus. The car, a 2010 Subaru Impreza, sustained more serious damage, Darcy said.

Lebanon is part of School Administrative District 60. School officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday morning.
