This year’s Maine Startup and Create Week, an annual conference in Portland that focuses on entrepreneurs and innovation, will feature the top lawyer at a company that seeks to revolutionize transportation by shooting passengers through tubes at speeds of up to 700 mph.

The conference is scheduled for June 19 to 23. Its theme for 2017 is “solve better,” with workshops, panels and speakers on the use of innovation and technology to solve big problems, the organizers said in a news release.

They also announced the keynote speaker: Marvin Ammori, general counsel at Los Angeles-based Hyperloop One. The company is developing a transportation system that uses a custom electric motor to accelerate and decelerate levitated pods filled with passengers or cargo through low-pressure tubes.

Hyperloop promises “airline speeds for the price of a bus ticket.”

Tickets for the conference are $155 per day or $269 for the full five days. More information is available at mainestartupandcreateweek.com.
